A much needed break, downtime and more Procreate
Life have been a little quieter recently with work, which gives us freelancers the opportunity to have some forced downtime and in my case travel - something that’s become a habit over the last few years, discovering new cities and gaining some more perspective and inspiration where I can too.
After my last self-brief involving procreate, I’ve loved learning more about how my illustrative skills can be upgraded, and after a trip to Los Angeles, and in particular Palm Springs, I’ve leant into my love for all things mid-century and architecture to draw some of the beautiful homes I saw.
Being able to play with the tools in procreate to draw perfect lines, layer elements, colours and use brushes to add texture has been a fun way to explore creativity in conceptual art too.
only having 48hrs In Palm Springs was enough time for a taste but I will endeavour to return to get more of my mid-century fix in future. The minimal styling of these homes against the dramatic mountains and the tall reaching palms is breathtaking and addictive.
On top of this, I’ve actually been using these skills in some recent work too (I can’t publish it right now), which feels even more personal when I’m reviewing it.
However, Now I need to find some more work, Time to get my head down!
